Universal’s farmer-training programs are tailored to each origin, and cover topics ranging from variety selection to nutrient management and from usage to harvesting, curing and storage. In many locations, Universal also provides training on forestry and woodlot management along with tree production and maintenance.
Universal’s agronomists and technicians regularly meet with growers to provide training tailored to each origin and to gather information on farmer practices and crop performance. That information is used to continuously improve our global agronomic efforts from field to harvesting and curing, the final phase of the farmer’s growing operation. As to the latter, we help farmers improve their curing barns, focus on energy efficiency and understand the need for active reforestation practices by providing technical support, training and financing, where appropriate.
