Sustainable enterprise is vital in agricultural industries. Our company strives to maintain the stability of tobacco supply and the suitability of the harvested product. At the same time, we seek to minimize the affects of farming on the environment through the promotion and use of sound production techniques and technologies. This concern for the environment extends into the factory, where our management teams review performance parameters and seek to minimize external impacts.

We support the preservation and replenishment of natural resources. We promote the use of field preparation and production techniques that preserve the soil and protect water resources. The impact of tobacco production can be evaluated by visual examination, soil testing and water testing techniques, which we utilize and promote. By evaluating the impact of tobacco production, the Company is able to identify issues and implement action plans to address areas of concern through appropriate agronomic assistance.

Within the factory, we are monitoring our impact on a continual basis. The key elements of our program are: noise reduction, efficient resource usage and monitoring and reduction of emissions. Noise reduction is addressed through the examination and control of truck traffic and industrial noise. Plant emissions are monitored and the proper protections are installed to minimize environmental impact. Water usage is also monitored to promote conservation and proper disposal of waste water. Any solid waste resulting from the process is bundled, and recycling plans are in place to reduce the waste materials going to landfills. Special care is also taken to provide for the proper handling of tobacco waste. These activities are supported by regularly scheduled corporate audits in which local action is reviewed and action plans are established to address areas of concern.
